"Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John , Acts, and the letter to the Romans.... "

When you read the words above, did you sing them in your head? Haha I did. Many who have grown up in a similar tradition have a little tune as their go-to to learn the books of the Bible. The funny thing is, they indeed weren't even written in that order!

Now, are you asking why I am writing this? The Scripture Scout has the Sunday School curriculum you know as Sleuth for the Truth and included in the packet is an awesome Biblical timeline! I mean ... awesome. In the curriculum you get that version of the timeline, but you also get the chronology of Bible books and get the awesome

This timeline is so successful in teaching the Bible that we have created a huge Biblical timeline poster to put on the wall of your classroom and some graphics to pin on it as you cover each lesson. It's pretty rad. My mother designed it in the late sixties and had used it in every single classroom in every single church in every single town where they lived as international and homeland missionaries. It has been tweaked and updated. And although I have struggled with the loss after losing both of my parents during this process over the last 5 years, I am very excited for you to be able to access and use that big timeline and curriculum.

Come explore the wonderful curriculum we have to offer in our store! We are thrilled to share a sneak peek at this amazing timeline which will captivate and draw us closer into God's Word. Let us tantalize your spirit with what is yet unknown, for His plan has so much more still awaiting discovery. You can see the curriculum at our store.

For thousands of years, the Hebrew Old Testament has been a powerful source of wisdom and understanding for generations. It is humbling to think that our faith today stands on such ancient foundations - these books were chosen by divine guidance, yet have had an outstandingly enduring impact on culture since their writing nearly two millennia ago. With each reading we are blessed with access to the rich oral history preserved in Scripture; may it continue inspiring us towards loving God and living faithfully together as one family.

Understanding the accuracy of God's Word in the Old Testament is vital to grasping its full impact and beauty when revealed anew through Jesus Christ in the New. Building upon this foundation, we can more deeply appreciate His perfect plan for our lives!

... the Greek New Testament revelation stands upon the foundation of the Hebrew Old Testament, the accuracy of the Old is of great importance to set up the New!

So. The Supercharged Sunday School's Sleuth for the Truth timeline doesn't follow the "Genesis through Revelation" way. *gasp* I mean, even though Genesis tells of the creation of the world, yes, the FIRST thing that happened, Job was written before it! However, The Scripture Scout's Sleuth for the Truth timeline follows the chronological order of events when they occurred with a supplemental timeline that shows when they were written.

It is essential to recognize the importance of every word written in Scripture. Through diligent study, scholars have come together on many points about the New Testament – it all boils down to this: if any part of Bible history does not hold up as truthful, then so too may Christianity's validity be questioned! Thank God that Christian Apologetics can rely on a strong foundation built upon factual truths found within The Word.

"Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past,  but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith..."

-Romans 16:24-26

You are probably also aware that the gospels were not all written at the same times or places and some of the letters to churches were written before the birth, ministry, & adventures of Jesus were even recorded. The Scripture Scout's Sleuth for the Truth calendar shows the chronological order as to when the books were written. The lesson plans are in chronological order as to when these historical events occurred, even though some have been tweaked by being put together with continuity of theme. Both are offered to the teacher, and thus, the students can get a 'big picture look at the book.' For example, Paul’s missionary travels seem all over the place in this chart because that's how he travelled! Galatians was the FIRST book written, and it was several years after the crucifixion of Christ, so we chose to keep some of the lessons from the epistles ordered by theme.

How in the world can you make this FUN?

Well this guy certainly has a great way to look at it. Enjoy it in the video below.

This brother looks at the books in the order the stories occurred! We love that and use it often. However, The Scripture Scout's Supercharged Sunday school follows the Bible books in how the order they were written. Why? Because we like that idea better? No, it's because by beginning this divine story from the way the authors see it, we foster an understanding of God's character and His grand design for mankind. Following the narrative in this sequence allows us to appreciate each part of our Lord’s remarkable plan through His people as it is revealed over time, author by author.

With no one-size-fits all approach to the Bible, it's a beautiful thing that God offers us individual freedom in how we read His words. He knows each of our hearts and encourages personalized interactions with Him through scripture.

In our "sleuth" lessons, each book has a fun icon related to The Scripture Scout's Sleuth for the Truth LESSON PLANS. So when you see the icon at the top of the lesson plan, you can quickly look at the calendar to see when it occurred OR in what order it was written. When the book is covered, the icon can be placed on a poster timeline or in your students' notes. You can make this yourself or use The Marvelous Map of Bible Books timeline. However you plan to do it, the basic timeline and images are offered below. :-)

Through regular Bible study, God guides us on the path to spiritual growth and maturity as believers. Engage with Scripture - it is one of our greatest responsibilities and most rewarding opportunities for deepening faith in Christ!

Happy sleuthing, fellow scripture scout!
